Current Report: OFFSHORE
Tuna's and lots of them, using live bait has been very productive this week.
The trolling boats have caught more sailfish this week than the live bait guys, but that will change when the fish are not as spread out. The reef is alive with cero mackerel, jacks and barracuda's. Catching Live bait with cast nets is very productive right know, that has made the fishing easy. When you have 1,000 baits you can chum heavy and you will have action.
FLATS.
Permit on the flats last week but with the impending cold front that will all be over, for at least 4 days
Barracuda and sharks are the standard this time of year.
Thanks for dropping bye.

Sailfish and blackfin tuna are the happening thing offshore .We caught 9 tuna's all on 12lb test on one charter this week. The reef is also very active with large yellow tails and a few early king fish.
FLATS .
Its been a battle on the flats , the fish are there just finding the write spot out of the strong north breeze.
On the edge of the flats using some shrimp tipped jigs, red fish and jacks are a good bet.
Thanks for dropping bye.

Current Report: OFFSHORE.
Well we are finally out of the doldrums offshore , with some great yellow tail action on the edge of the reef.
Large black groupers and mutton snappers were a common site on the dock this week.
Live bait has been easy to get with cast nets, this usually means the blue water fishing is about to take of with blackfin tuna and sailfish the main target.
FLATS.
When you can get bye the thunder storms and deal with the supper high tides we are having bonefish and permit are abundant. They like this time of year, the water cools after a thunder storm so they have no problem jumping up on a flat to feed . It still amazes me that I have been able to catch redfish for 18 months strait now. I guess they are going to be a permanent fixture in our fisheries.
Thanks for checking in.

Current Report: OFFSHORE.
The bluewater fishing has hit the summer doldrums, with a few scattered dolphin 18 to 25 miles out.
This is the time of year I look for big yellow tail snappers on the deep edge of the reef, and usually find them.
The wrecks on the Atlantic side have some mutton snappers and plenty of amberjacks.
FLATS.
The flats have been pretty good for this time of year, with bonefish and lots of sharks making for some good opportunities.
Permit are not too hard to find if you go to the west of key west.
Thanks for stopping bye.

Current Report: OFFSHORE.
Dolphin is still a pretty good bet out in the 700 to 1000 ft range , although it can be done I don't recommend !/2 day charters for dolphin this time of year.
Bottom fishing for grouper and snapper has been productive to the west, with Amber jacks and barracuda's thick on the deep wreck out front of key west.
Flyfishing offshore both in the gulf and the Atlantic have been fantastic, especially behind the shrimp boats in the gulf. Large bonito with a few tuna 's mixed in.
FLATS.
Most of the tarpon are gone with the exception of a few fish moving through the Key West harbor.
Bone fishing on the beginning of the incoming tide has been very productive. This works out good once the tide gets to high for the bonefish you start looking for permit.
Thanks for stopping bye Capt Tony Murphy

Current Report: OFFSHORE
Dolphin action offshore have been as good as it gets with lots of schools in the 6 to 8lb range and a few 30 to 40lb fish under the frigate birds.
Yellow tail snappers on the reef have made for a nice change of pace, using 8lb test on these guy makes it quite a challenge. The wrecks or full of amber jacks if you want to pull on something big.
FLATS
Tarpon are still here in big numbers. Getting on the water early is the way to go as it gets pretty hot on the water with no cover this time of year. Red fish seem to be an all year round fish here now.
The numbers of permit on the flats has increased as they come back of the reefs and wrecks after they have spawned.
Thanks for stopping bye.

Current Report: OFFSHORE Tarpon inshore sailfish offshore, its that time of year when you have lots of choices.
The past three weeks has been the best sailfishing I have seen in my eleven years of fishing.
It slowed down the last couple of days. Spawning permit on the reef has been very easy to catch on live crabs.
Yellow tail snappers are biting quite well even though the condition are not great.
FLATS
Tarpon is what's happening .The best time is early in the morning.
Not too many permit around but I 've been catching some nice redfish.
Thank for stopping bye.

Current Report: FLATS.
It has been pretty cold for flats fishing, but I was pleasantly surprised to catch some good size Redfish and cravalle jacks in the deeper channels on the edge of the flats .The barracuda fishing is pretty good in the afternoon when the water temp get up to about 62 deg.
I am looking forward to the next few days, I believe the permit will be jumping up on the flats in large numbers to eat.
OFFSHORE.
Grouper and snapper in large numbers are being caught, with the one draw back being the long run to get to them. Closer to key west the lack of king fish is amazing to all of us, we are always in to king fish this time of year. To warm to cold what ever it is I hope they show up .
Tuna action offshore has been pretty descent with sailfish show up for the early spring push. Big barracuda 's on the reef have been to keep the action going.
Well I take delivery of my new 28 ft whitewater in to weeks I am pretty excited about some of the things it give' s me, such speed and more space .
My old bout is for sale give me a call 305 2931814

Current Report: Capt Tony Murphy First of all I would like to apologize for my lack of fishing reports. I have been lucky enough to be fishing almost every day for the last month.
OFFSHORE:
I would say its about as good as it gets, blackfin tuna and sailfish have been thick. The secret has been catching lots of live bait to use as chum. There is nothing like having tuna and sailfish fighting over baits on your transom, its almost like sight fishing for them. This kind of fishing can be tough on a1/2 day charter because catching bait can be time consuming.
After a hot tip from Capt Carl on the Looney Tunes, I headed out to the gulf looking for large kingfish.
Using live blue runners we caught 5 large kings the biggest being 42lbs on 12lb test, we lost at least 15 others for all kinds of reasons. Fun was had by all on board including my self.
FLATS:
On Tuesday I took a client wading for bonefish. I was a little disappointed that we did not see more fish .
We saw 5 but all the shots were in to a stiff breeze, which was a little tough on my client for the day.
The highlight of the trip was a tailing permit 20ft from where we were standing. He followed the fly several times before we spooked him, quite a thrill being that close to them.
This is a great time to get your first permit on the flats .
Give me a call if you need more info.

Current Report: OFFSHORE
Black fin tuna and wahoo have been biting steady all week. All the tuna have been averaging 25lbs,a nice fight on 12lb test. King mackerel action is OK but not very consistent, one day they're everywhere the next day we can't find them. They like those cold fronts, but I am not complaining the weather has been perfect.
The reef has been great with big barracuda laying up in about 20 feet of water, feeding on ballyhoo.
Flats
The flats have come alive this week with permit being my main target. There is nothing like a tailing permit to get the hart pumping. Some early tarpon have arrived with our warm weather I hope to get a shot at them in the next couple of days. Jigging in the channels during low tide has been outstanding action with jacks ladyfish and snappers.
Give me a call to get an up to the minute report.
Thanks for stopping in
Capt Tony Murphy.

Current Report: Offshore
Blackfin tuna have been quite constant offshore we even caught some on fly. Not too many sails around but Steve Dunn from key west caught the biggest sail I 've seen on 12lb test . Nice fight.
Cero mackerel on the edge of the reef have been the best option for action.
We are usually in to plenty of kingfisher by now; the next cold front should do it.
Flats
With the warm weather we are having the flats have been trucking along with one nice discovery Redfish and lots of them. Some nice permit on the incoming tide with some schools jacks showing up for the novice fly fisherman
Date: Tuesday, December 8, 1998 at 12:27:48
Current Report: OFFSHORE Blackfinn tuna showed up in force this week, they are a great fish especially on 12lb test.
The bottom fishing for grouper and snapper has been steady, with top water action for mackerel taking up the slack.
FLATS
Permit fishing on the flats is always good on a full moon. They like the extra flow of water.
The beginning of the in coming tide has been the best for tailing fishing.
Tarpon season is on the horizon make your reservations soon.
Date: Saturday, November 28, 1998 at 12:42:25
Current Report: Jim Tupa and his brother Paul fished with me today.
We started of the day catching live bait with my 12ft castnet.
The fishing in the deep water has been super so we anchored in 210ft of water. The bottom fishing was great! We caught 5 mutton snappers 15 amberjacks. Our reward for fishing the surface was 5 nice kingfish. I expected to see some tuna or sailfish , maybe tomorrow.
Date: Wednesday, November 25, 1998 at 05:51:41
Current Report: Offshore fishing for sailfish has been steady, the tuna action has slowed down. We need a cold front to stir them up. The calm weather we are having, has allowed me to go further in to the gulf and put together some nice catches
of large kingfish. Mutton snappers in 200 ft have been great there alot of fun on 20lb test.
